Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated is a professional organization of registered nurses and registered nursing students, committed to the pursuit of Service for Humanity, Education, and Leadership.

Founded in 1932 by Nurse Ailene Carrington Ewell and a group of dedicated nurses in Washington, D.C., Chi Eta Phi continues to promote excellence in nursing through education, mentorship, and community outreach. The Theta Chapter proudly carries that torch forward — supporting nurses of all backgrounds who are united by compassion, competence, and a shared dedication to the profession.

Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.®

Welcome to the official website of the Theta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.® As President, I am proud to lead a chapter rooted in the national motto, “Service for Humanity.” Since our chartering on April 4, 1948, Theta Chapter has championed professional excellence in nursing, community service, and compassionate outreach throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

As part of a national organization of over 9,000 nurses and student nurses across 33 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, we embrace the theme: “Building a S.O.L.I.D. future together” — Strength, Outreach, Legacy, Innovation, and Dignity.

Our work is guided by Chi Eta Phi’s National Mandates, which include health promotion, senior and youth programs, community visibility, leadership development, scholarship, and the advancement of nursing practice.
